ABOUT THIS ROLE

RootsTable is a new fine dining restaurant rooted in the traditions of Appalachia, located inside Ferleman Gallery. We are building something with intention — a place where seasonal cooking, thoughtful sourcing, and genuine hospitality come together to create an experience guests will remember.


The Server is at the center of that experience. This role is for someone who understands that great dining is made in the details — in timing, presence, and the quiet attentiveness that makes a guest feel truly cared for. We're looking for someone who takes pride in service as a craft, not just a job.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Deliver Exceptional Table Service

  • Provide warm, professional service from the moment a guest arrives to the moment they leave — making every person feel welcomed, guided, and genuinely cared for.
  • Manage the full arc of the dining experience: pacing, anticipation, and presence throughout the meal.
  • Handle the unexpected with composure — resolving issues early, quietly, and always with the guest's experience in mind.


Know the Menu and Tell the Story

  • Develop deep knowledge of our seasonal offerings, ingredients, sourcing partners, and the Appalachian traditions that inspire them.
  • Speak with confidence and genuine enthusiasm about what's on the plate and in the glass.
  • Help guests navigate the menu thoughtfully — making recommendations, answering questions, and sharing the story behind the food.


Execute with Precision

  • Take accurate orders and communicate clearly with the kitchen and bar to ensure seamless timing and presentation.
  • Coordinate with the team to deliver food and beverages at the right moment, in the right way, every time.
  • Maintain awareness of multiple tables simultaneously without losing focus on the individual guest.


Uphold the Standard

  • Keep the dining room clean, organized, calm, and prepared — before, during, and after service.
  • Contribute to a team culture defined by professionalism, accountability, and mutual respect.
  • Uphold all applicable health, safety, and service standards without exception.


Support Events and Programming

  • Provide seamless service during gallery openings, concerts, and special events at Ferleman Gallery.
  • Approach dynamic, high-energy environments with the same calm and hospitality as a standard dinner service.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A hospitality-driven server who genuinely enjoys caring for people and takes pride in doing things well.
  • Detail-oriented and composed — someone who values consistency, accuracy, and smooth execution under pressure.
  • Warm and professional — able to engage guests with ease while maintaining the standards of a fine dining environment.
  • Curious and coachable — eager to learn our menu, our story, and the craft behind both.
  • A reliable team player who shows up ready, follows through, and contributes to a steady, focused service.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior serving experience is preferred; strong customer service or hospitality experience is valued.
  • Genuine interest in food, sourcing, and the farm-to-table philosophy that defines RootsTable.
  • Flexible availability across lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch shifts, Tuesday through Sunday.
  • Consistent, dependable attendance — our guests and teammates count on it.
