Beverage Manager
Part-Time · Growth Path to Full-Time
Thursday–Saturday Evenings + Special Events
ABOUT THIS ROLE
RootsTable is a new fine dining restaurant rooted in the traditions of Appalachia, located inside Ferleman Gallery. We are building something with intention — a place where craft, community, and a deep sense of place come together at the table.
We're looking for a Beverage Manager who is ready to grow with us. This role starts part-time — Thursday through Saturday evenings — with a clear path to full-time as the restaurant develops. You'll be behind the bar alongside the team, not above it. You'll set the standard through your own hands, your presence, and your commitment to the principles that guide everything we do.
This is the right opportunity if you are a skilled bartender with the character and curiosity to lead, and if you're drawn to being part of something being built from the ground up.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead by Example on the Floor
- Work service shifts as a hands-on bartender — preparing drinks with consistency, care, and a commitment to precision.
- Model the standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and professionalism you expect from those around you.
- Bring a composed, welcoming presence to every guest interaction, creating an experience that reflects the spirit of RootsTable.
Shape the Beverage Program
- Contribute ideas for seasonal cocktails, regional spirits, and beverage offerings that reflect our Appalachian identity.
- Help refine and evolve the menu over time, staying curious about ingredients, technique, and what's happening in the broader craft beverage world.
- Develop thoughtful non-alcoholic and low-ABV options that receive the same care as the rest of the program.
Hold the Team to the Standard
- Help train and mentor bartenders on drink execution, product knowledge, and guest engagement.
- Give direct, respectful feedback and hold yourself and your teammates accountable to our Guiding Principles.
- Support a culture where people speak honestly, work hard, and take pride in what they do.
Manage Bar Operations
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and stocking to keep the bar running smoothly and efficiently.
- Maintain bar organization, sanitation, and readiness before, during, and after service.
- Uphold all applicable health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
Support Events and Programming
- Provide seamless beverage service during gallery openings, concerts, and special events at Ferleman Gallery.
- Approach high-energy and high-volume situations with calm, focus, and hospitality.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A skilled bartender with genuine craft — someone who cares about technique, consistency, and the story behind what they make.
- Hospitality-first in every interaction: warm, composed, and naturally attuned to what guests need.
- A leader by nature, not just by title — someone who earns respect through their work ethic and character.
- Curious about Appalachian culture, regional ingredients, and the sense of place that defines RootsTable.
- Honest, direct, and reliable — someone who does what they say they'll do.
- Excited about being part of something new, with the patience and grit it takes to build well.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of bartending experience in a professional hospitality setting; fine dining or craft cocktail experience preferred.
- Some prior experience mentoring, training, or leading peers in a service environment.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Available Thursday–Saturday evenings and for special events as needed.
- TIPS certification or equivalent (or willingness to obtain prior to first shift).
HOW TO APPLY
Please submit your resume along with a brief statement about what draws you to RootsTable and how you approach leading a bar team. We're interested in who you are, not just what you've done.
