Bartender — RootSTable

RootsTable at Ferleman Gallery

Fine Dining · Farm to Table · Appalachian

Bartender

Part-Time

Thursday–Saturday Evenings + Special Events

ABOUT THIS ROLE

RootsTable is a new fine dining restaurant rooted in the traditions of Appalachia, located inside Ferleman Gallery. We are building something with intention — a place where craft, community, and a deep sense of place come together at the table.

We're looking for a bartender who takes their work seriously — someone who finds meaning in the details, cares about the guest in front of them, and brings a steady, professional presence to every shift. This is not a role for someone looking to coast. It's for someone who wants to be part of building something refined and enduring from the very beginning.

This role is best suited for a bartender who thrives in a composed, standards-driven environment where precision and restraint matter.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Engage Guests with Care

  • Create a welcoming, polished experience through attentive beverage service, clear communication, and thoughtful recommendations.
  • Bring a composed, warm presence to every interaction — reading the room and anticipating what guests need before they ask.
  • Represent RootsTable's sense of place and hospitality in every conversation and every pour.

Execute the Craft

  • Prepare drinks with consistency, precision, and care — every time, regardless of pace or volume.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace throughout the shift.
  • Stay informed on cocktail technique, seasonal ingredients, and the beverage program, and bring curiosity to everything you make.

Maintain Bar Operations

  • Ensure the bar is properly stocked, organized, and ready for service before the first guest arrives.
  • Uphold all health, safety, and sanitation standards without exception.
  • Anticipate service needs and support the flow of the floor as a true team player.

Contribute to the Program

  • Stay curious — share observations, ideas, and feedback that help strengthen and refine the beverage program over time.
  • Approach each shift as an opportunity to improve, not just repeat.

Support Events and Programming

  • Provide seamless bar service during gallery openings, concerts, and special events at Ferleman Gallery.
  • Approach high-energy and high-volume situations with calm, focus, and hospitality.

  • WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • A craft-oriented bartender who cares deeply about technique, consistency, and the experience they create for guests.
  • Warm, composed, and professional — someone who is as comfortable in conversation as they are behind the stick.
  • Curious and coachable — open to learning, growing, and contributing to something still being built.
  • Proactive and reliable — takes initiative, follows through, and shows up ready.
  • Genuinely drawn to the Appalachian story, the farm-to-table philosophy, and the intersection of art and hospitality that defines Ferleman Gallery.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior bartending or cocktail experience is preferred; transferable hospitality experience is valued.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Available Thursday–Saturday evenings and for special events as needed.
  • TIPS certification or equivalent (or willingness to obtain prior to first shift).

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit your resume along with a brief statement about what draws you to RootsTable and what you believe makes for an exceptional guest experience. We're interested in who you are, not just what you've done.
