David's journey from creative floral art to contemporary expressionsism was bourn out of personal necessity. Life choices brokered the need for personal expression in his physical space. Experimenting with different paint consistency and brands of acrylic paint, David creates an environment where each interacts with another.
This technique of painting is pour-painting; acrylic paint is thinned with water and various stabilizing additives, to enhance paint flow. The mineral components of the different colors and various brands interact with each other, causing distortions called cells and cloud effects. The paint is poured in layers and forced to spread, then the canvas is tilted so the paint flows and stretches. Colors from underneath pop through, causing curious color cells. The art is unpredictable, so each finished piece is a one of a kind.
