Ferleman Art Gallery in Cumberland, MD is seeking an enthusiastic Art Teacher to lead engaging painting classes tailored specifically for adults at our art gallery. Your primary responsibility will be to create a fun, safe, and relaxing environment that encourages artistic expression and learning among our adult customers.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead Adult Art Classes: Plan and facilitate engaging painting classes exclusively for adults, providing step-by-step instructions and a fun, safe, and relaxing atmosphere.
2. Evening and Weekend Classes: Offer sip-and-paint classes during evening hours and weekends to accommodate the schedules of working adults.
3. Artistic Guidance: Offer personalized guidance and support to participants, ensuring they feel confident and enjoy the creative process.
4. Materials Management: Ensure all art supplies and materials are organized and readily available for each class.
5. Theme Selection: Curate and coordinate themed painting classes to cater to various interests and seasons, specifically tailored for adults.
6. Class Promotion: Assist in marketing and promoting adult art classes to attract a diverse group of participants.
7. Customer Engagement: Create an interactive and enjoyable atmosphere, fostering artistic expression and camaraderie among attendees.
8. Event Coordination: Manage all aspects of the art classes, from setup to cleanup, to ensure a seamless experience.
9. Sales: Promote the sale of existing artwork within the gallery and online, including the promotion of other programs and services offered by Ferleman & Company.
10. Feedback and Improvement: Gather feedback from customers to continually enhance and refine classes, and work with leadership to make improvements.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
2. Previous experience in teaching art or facilitating art classes for adults is highly advantageous.
3. Strong artistic skills with a portfolio showcasing your own artwork.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
5. Enthusiasm for creating a vibrant and enjoyable art experience specifically tailored for adults.
6. Ability to work independently and manage events effectively.

Schedule: This position has flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the availability and preferences of our adult customers. All classes will be scheduled to meet customer needs, while considering the best availability of the instructor. As an independent contractor (See IRS 1099 Rules) we will set a mutually beneficial schedule.
